  2. Hi my name is Roman B.
My major is Special needs Education!
    I attend Jefferson Community College!
I plan to transfer to university of Louisville!
First of all I thought article made some key points such as the Tigers across America and Asia are in danger of being taken from their homes, and held captive. I personally that is wrong and should be put to a stop. Because it’s wrong to take a living creature from it’s home. That’s like somebody taking us from our home and holding us captive. I mean also a 100 years ago their was a 100,000 wild tigers roaming around Asia, and now theirs only 3,000. In my opion that sounds alittle funny. Because whats happening to our beautiful wild life. Animals have feelings just like us. They also have family’s just like us. Just because their animals does’nt mean we can treat them bad. Their one of God’s creature’s. But that’s all I’m going to post for today. I look forward to seeing you all next time!!!
    Bye Bye for now!

  3. Hi my name is Kelsey J. I am currently undecided right now in my major. Reading this article over tigers I have agreed that they are the worlds largest wildlife. Why is it that there are 5,000 plus captive tigers in America, than in Asia with as low as 3,200 tigers? I think it is safe to keep tigers under control and having someone to watch them. All tigers should be reported with deaths, and births. “The United States government has been a global leader in promoting the conservation of tigers, but it also has a responsibility to manage the tigers in its own backyard to prevent them from entering illegal trade.” Why would someone want to have a tiger in their back yard? tigers have families just like us, i think they should be put together in an enviorment together.

  4. Hellloooo My name is Amber N. I am a student at JCTC. My major is Nursing. I have read the article and honestly i thnk that tigers are quite cute and cuddly. I do believe that they are the world's largest wildlife. I wanna know why people think it is dangerous to have them as pets? I believe that they can be controlled while they are young and can be tamed as they get older. So if you do those things its possible that they can be harmless cause they wouldn’t know any different. But if that doesn’t work and they just have the instinct to be attracted to blood like vampires…lol then were screwed. Another question i have is if you had a tiger and everybody freaked over it and took it away to release to the wild, would you be pissed? I know I would cause my tiger would be my BFF. I would dress it up and treat it like a human. I would probably even eat breakfast at the dinner table with it. Im pretty fearless. I also wanna know why people can have pitbulls as pets and not tigers they are the same kind of dangerous animals capable of tearing your face off.

  5. High, whats up? im Jonathan smith.. I attend to jctc for right now and soon will be going to university of Louisville. Reading this article about the tigers I did not know a lot about. There used to be over a 100,000 tigers spread through Asia now only around 3,000. In America 5,000 are owned by people and not containing a protection condition such as a zoo instead of a pet. In the US only 17 states u can contain a tiger with a certain license but 28 states forbid tigers which are not a lot at all. I think there should be more laws to contain the tiger for less injuries and death. If not then put them back in the wild.

  6. Great start on the discussion! This is a hot-button topic, because more and more people are being "attacked" by the wild animals they keep in their homes; a recent show on Animal Planet highlighted people with apes and an *indoor buffalo* as pets, and they'd suffered from their attempts to domesticate their otherwise wild animals. Amber brings us the counter-argument, which is good in terms of thinking outside the box, but I think it's worth mentioning that tigers, on average, weigh much more than the average pitbull, and are generally not domesticated in a manner that would suit them as household pets. Also, a playful swipe from even a 100lb dog is nothing compared to the swipe of a 800lb tiger. With claws. Also, how on Earth are people feeding these tigers? Tigers eat, on average, 10 - 20lbs of meat *a day.* It would be an awfully expensive pet.

But Amber brought up another good point; it is not wise to release a tiger, or any other animal, for that matter, into the wild after it has been a pet. A tiger brought up to believe its meals would be delivered to it has not learned how to hunt, so it eventually gets hungry and, worse case scenario, sees a tasty human. This is a problem in some areas of tigers' natural habitats; human development has encroached on tigers' living spaces, and thus tigers attack livestock and perhaps people and pets because they see them as prey; these livestock, pets, and people are in these tigers' habitats, after all, so what can be done so that people and tigers can co-exist?

Kelsey and Roman brought up excellent ideas that tigers need to be replaced into their natural habitats which, unfortunately, is being destroyed by human development in several areas where tigers were once very abundant. Tigers increasingly compete with expanding human population and industry for land and food, and many are killed by poachers who sell their skins and body parts as ingredients for traditional Chinese medicines. So what can we do to help the tigers in the wild? While I agree with Jonathan that people shouldn't have tigers as pets, is that a reasonable way to approach the issue of trying to repopulate tigers? What sort of places are keeping tigers captive in order to help them? What is being done to restore tigers' natural habitats? What are tigers' natural habitats? What measures are taken to forbid poachers from trying to kill tigers and sell them, essentially, for parts? A species of tiger went extinct during my lifetime- how many tigers are really left and how many are coming back from the brink of extinction?

  7. amber- Keeping tigers captive are a result to try and prove that wild animals can be tamed depending on how it's done and that they can be kept safe from poachers and people looking to sell them. tigers natural habitats are forests and tropical land. They are used to hunting theyre prey and defending for themselves.

  8. hello again. i belive that keeping tigers as a pet would be a good idea, only if therre was some way to control them and feed the. tigers are dangerous and would not be the best idea for a pet, but i think in order for them to become more popular and less extixt we would have to watchover them in a safe way without huring them. tigers are a beautiful animal and are very visious. In order to keep them as a normal pet we would have to train them in ways like we would a dog.

  12. High wats up again… I like wat my group mention about all there concerns and there topics. I think we should leave some tigers in the wild and some as pets but to contain them in a certain order. Tigers are becoming endangered so they have to be maintain some how or all of them will just fade away. Im not saying I would get a tiger because I know I would probally get eatin cause I look so good. Noo but really with our technology know days we should keep track of tiger so they wont become extinct. Even though they are a dangerous animal we still got to respect that and don’t forget not to take them as a regular pet. jsmith
